Notes:

M94 is located in the Canes Venatici I Galaxy Cloud. It is the victim of a violent explosion several miollion years ago. The inner ring contains an area of active star formation, full or young (blue) stars. The outer ring is much less bright and contains older (yellow) star populations.
M94 is a bit unusual in that it has a 3rd outer region which also contains an active star birthing region. The galaxy group to which it belongs is frequently referred to by it's name (M94 group).
