Notes:
|
M13 was was discovered by Edmond Halley the famous comet hunter in 1714. It is the largest and brightest globular cluster (generally) visible from the Northern Hemisphere. It's brightness is due both to its relative nearness and its intrinsic brightness. |
| M13 has an absolute magnitude of -8.7, which equates to about 240,000 suns. The stars in M13 are also in close proximity to each other with a density of several stars per cubic light year. | |
