 Each of these faint smudges represent galaxies full of billions and in some cases several hundred billion stars like our sun. This grouping represents the M96 subgroup of the Leo Galaxy Cloud, which also includes the well known Leo Trio (M65,66 & NGC 3628)
 The M96 group is very compact for a galaxy cluster contained in an 8.45 million light year area. M96 at right center has a true diameter of over 70,000 light years.
