Designation
IC 1848 - "The Soul Nebula" also "The Embryo Nebula" other designations - LBN 667 & Sh2-199
Type  Open Star Cluster with emission nebula
Constellation  Cassiopeia
Coordinates
Telescope centered at RA '02 55 13'    Dec '+60 10 40'
Magnitude 6.5
Size  200 Light Years across (approx)
Distance  6,900 light years from Earth in the Perseus arm of our Milky Way Galaxy
Dimensions  70 x 138 arcminutes
Image Field  90.6 x 113 arcminutes
Notes:

The IC designation refers to the star cluster, which is surrounded by hydrogen. The hydrogen is excited by the UV light from many young, hot stars.
This in turn causes athe red glow primarily from the H-alpha emission line.
