The Heart nebula is a very faint emission nebula, which is illuminated by the central star cluster Melotte 15. It is a very challenging object for visual observation requiring dark skies and a large aperture telescope.
The larger version of this image has the high resolution central portion imaged with the 10" SCT superimposed on the widefield image.
